1 jin rice = 2.50 yuan. However, most people buy big bulk packages which results in different prices based on different quality.
1 jin pork = 10 - 11 yuan
1 jin beef = 15 - 16 yuan
1 jin apples = 2.50 - 3.00 yuan
1 jin eggs = 4.20 yuan (This is for the top grade, clean, inspected eggs. You can buy fresh of the farm eggs that are filthy for about 2.50/jin. Yes, eggs are typically not sold in cartons, but sold loosely with the consumer choosing their own eggs.)
1 carton milk, 1 liter = 8.50 - 10.00 yuan
Cooking oil, 5 liters = 60yuan. This price can vary depending upon whether you buy vegetable oil, sunflower oil, peanut oil, soybean oil. Canola oil is not very common. I priced the most common vegetable mix. I couldn't find any one liter sizes (small market) as most people buy in the 5 liter quantities.
Apple juice, 1 liter = 12 yuan. This is local brand label. If you buy foreign labels, it's a lot more.
Coca-cola, canned = 1.80 - 2.50 yuan. 600 ml bottles = 2.40 - 3.50 yuan, depending upon where you buy it.
Big Mac meal = about 25 yuan.
I no longer live in Beijing, but live in China's northwest. Most of these prices are government controlled, but there can be some variation. These are roughly the same prices I paid two years ago in Beijing, with the exception of the milk . . . there was a sharp increase last year in milk prices.
Good luck on your project!|||5kg ranges from 20RMB to 80, depending on the brand and the quality
