Yes, they are the same. The renminbi or the yuan are two names for the same currency, issued by the People's Bank of China. RMB and CNY are the two abbreviations used. Before the revolution of 1949 the yuan was the name of the currency. The renminbi ("people's money") replaced that, but the old name of yuan ("round") stayed in use too.|||I don't think so
