Starting with USD, would a foreign fixed deposit be better in RMB or AUD for 1 mo? 1 year?

Nobody can tell you because it depends on how RMB performs against AUD. Waiting for RMB to appreciate when the govt wants to keep it cheap doesn't sound fun to me.
